The adventure that led to the building of Aqua Gîte started in 2000 when your hosts bought the magnificent heart of an ancient farm with the idea of giving it a second life.

These old buildings, typical of the region and full of charm are situated in the hamlet of Barbeyroux which is a part of the commune of Salignac-Eyvigues, in the Dordogne (F-24590).

This village which stands between the limits of the Causse de Martel and the wooded hillsides of Perigord has provided for centuries a passage between Quercy, Limousin and Perigord Noir.

It was with this in mind and out of respect for local architectural style that we undertook the restoration of this timeless little haven, which has benefited from so many influences through the ages.
